A whole year for Guinea

OUR CULTURAL FOCUS IN 2013
In addition to its regular cultural activities, CAK focuses on  the culture of a specific African country annually. As an example, the year 2010 was dedicated to Namibia. The cultural interaction between Africa and Spain was the theme in 2011 and 2012 was especially concentrated on CAK’s 35th anniversary.  CAK’s main focus in 2013 will be on the culture of the Republic of Guinea in Western Africa.  Formerly called French Guinea, it is located on the Atlantic coast between Guinea–Bissau and Sierra Leone, and is bordered to the north by Senegal and Mali, to the east by the Ivory Coast and to the south by Liberia. Guinea was a French colony from 1890  until 1958, and the only one of France's former colonies in sub–Saharan Africa which broke with the mother country.
Guinea is an African country that has been widely recognized for its cultural brilliance and musical traditions.  Guinea has particularly distinguished itself as a leader in an African context for its cultural conservation policy.
The launch of activities in connection with the marking of CAK’s Guinean year will be arranged on week 21 this year.
The programme will follow!
